Smooth and balanced like you expect an E&J Brandy to be, E&J Apple brandy is blended with apple liqueur, giving it a sweet, crisp flavor with just a hint of vanilla and caramel. Brandy has been around for generations, but the game changed in 1975.
Named after the company's founders, Ernest and Julio Gallo, and first sold in the USA in 1975, E&J V.S. Original is one of the world's best-selling brandies. E&J Original is distilled from Californian grown French Colombard, Folle Blanche, St. Emilion and early Barbera grapes.
E&J Brandy is America's most awarded brandy. Layers of apple and toasted oak with hints of vanilla and spice round out the flavor and linger in the aftertaste. E&J VS brandy is smooth enough to drink straight or in a variety of mixed drinks.Brandy is usually produced in pot stills (batch distillation), but the column still can also be used for continuous distillation. The distillate obtained in this manner has a higher alcohol concentration (approximately 90% ABV) and is less aromatic.
Ernest & Julio Gallo are the namesakes for the E&J Brandy portfolio. Their first brandy sold was in 1938, but their VS was released in 1975. The VS is the youngest in their brandy portfolio and is at least 2 years old.
