The ultra-premium tequila is distilled from Blue Weber agave and aged for 42 months in port casks. Distilled and produced at Destiladora González Lux, this ultra-premium tequila has a limited allocation of 6,000 bottles at a suggested retail price of $129.99 per 750-ml. bottle.
Located just outside the city of Arandas, in the highlands of Jalisco, DGL sits in a prime location for the superior agave used in our premium tequilas.
The agave is stripped to reveal the heart of the plant, the 'piña', which is then hand-chopped, baked and crushed by a two-ton volcanic stone Tahona wheel and a roller mill. The resulting mixture is fermented for three days, distilled and, in some cases, aged in handmade barrels.
Like other types of tequila, añejos are produced in Mexico's highland and lowland regions. The richer soil of the highlands can make this region's agaves sweeter, making for fruitier tequilas. And lowland tequilas taste earthier because of the area's water.
And our unaged, 100% Blue Agave tequila delivers with a crisp, light body, a hint of pepper and a bevy of accolades to match. Color: Clear and bright. Nose: Clean, floral and spice undertone. Mouth: Clean and crisp with full agave flavor, hints of floral and pepper. This Reposado Tequila, bottled at a standard 40% ABV, undergoes a careful maturation process in a Single Barrel, resulting in a spirit of exceptional quality.
La Rojeña is Jose Cuervo's flagship distillery and the oldest in Latin America. Located in the heart of Tequila's central square, a tour not only gives you insight into the history of their tequila-making process but a tasting of their premium tequila, Reserva de la Familia.
Extra Añejo Tequilas are aged at least 3 years in barrels, making the product itself at least 10 years old - accounting for the time agave takes to grow, at least 7 years - by the time it touches your glass.
