Distillery Information

This is a blend of casks from two distilleries in Jamaica: Monymusk and Hampden. The latter distillery has Scottish roots, and is one of the oldest sugar plantations in the country. It has always been known as a rum distillery of high calibre, making spirit for blending.
Rum must be made from either sugar cane juice, cane syrup, molasses, sugar or any combination of these. Distillation must be carried in still made out of. Post-distillation rum can be unaged or aged in small oak barrels in. Only water and caramel for colour purpose can be added to aged.Appleton Estate is the oldest rum distillery in continuous operation in Jamaica and has been perfecting this fine craft since 1749. A winner of prizes and awards since 1862, Appleton Estate Rum is one of the best rums in the world.
This style of rum is typically unaged, with a bright fresh character, pronounced notes of tropical fruit and spice, and a very complex finish. Mostly enjoyed by Jamaicans with Coke, Overproof rum is also a key ingredient in many classic cocktails.Distilleries producing light and heavy rums often blend the two to produce a rum having characteristics of both. Light rums tend to originate from countries originally colonised by the Spanish, such as Cuba, the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico and Venezuela.
