The Glenlivet Distillery sits in a wild and remote glen and is produced in the Livet Valley, located in the Speyside region of Scotland.
The Founder's Reserve is Master Distiller Alan Winchester's creation, and it was launched in 2015, as a tribute to the founder's original vision and method. It has 40% ABV, it's a single malt and matured in American-Oak casks.The modern Glenlivet distillery, with the red arrow marking the site of the 1824 distillery. The Glenlivet is the original Speyside single malt whisky.According to the Glenlivet, Founder's Reserve blends in-house whiskies from a variety of ages. Yet another example of the trend towards No Age Statement releases, Founder's Reserve is said to be “considered a 12 year old Scotch by most.Made with water from the same crystal-clear mountain streams, in the same cold, pure air, The Glenlivet Founder's Reserve is as smooth and fruity as the whisky that first ran from the original copper pot stills.By the 1860s, The Glenlivet was noted for producing a spirit with a 'pineapple' note, evidence that the floral, estery character seen today has a long history – and one which broke with the heavy, dense, rich styles prevalent at that time.
