Distillery Information

Careful sourcing from celebrated Mendocino County vineyards with various microclimates and soil types results in a complex, bright, fruit forward Pinot Noir.
A rich palate of briery fruit, brown spice and vanilla is framed by a subtle thread of white pepper and oak. The generous mid-palate showcases soft tannins and balanced acidity followed by a lingering, bold finish.
Bonterra is owned by the Chilean wine giant, Concho Y Toro, along with its sister winery, Fetzer. According to the 2020 annual report (2021 not published yet), Concho Y Toro's revenues were Ch$769,067 million (US$1.06 billion), of which 11.9% were from its US brands - Bonterra and Fetzer.In general, Zinfandels have high acidity and mild tannins, with ripe, sometimes jammy fruit flavors of cherry, raspberry and blueberry. Black pepper is also a signature trait, and some versions exhibit herbal details like sage and dill.
Zinfandel vines are hearty and thrive in warm, mild climates, as the grapes will shrivel in hot weather. While the vines are vigorous, the Zinfandel grapes themselves require great care. The thin-skinned grapes grow in large, tight clusters that are prone to bunch rot.
