Distillery Information

Donald Hess, founder of The Hess Collection winery, died peacefully at his home in Bern, Switzerland on January 30, 2023. He was 86. He is survived by his wife Ursula, his daughter Alessandra, his stepdaughters Larissa, and Sabrina, and five grandchildren.
Hess Persson Estates owns 5 primary vineyards in Napa Valley and one in Monterey County (Shirtail Creek) and also in neighboring Sonoma County. Donald stepped back from running the winery in 2017 and today his stepdaughter Sabrina, and her husband Tim Persson oversee the day-to-day operations of Hess Persson Estates.
Natural wine Is made from organically farmed grapes, with little to no intervention from the winemaker in the form of additives and processing. The result is wine in its purest form.
