Distillery Information

Knob Creek is a Kentucky straight Bourbon whiskey owned by Beam Suntory and produced at the Jim Beam distillery in Clermont. Along with Booker's, Baker's and Basil Hayden's it was part of the small batch Bourbon range introduced in 1992 by Booker Noe (1929-2004), grandson of Jim Beam.
Knob Creek is an American brand of Kentucky straight bourbon whiskey produced by Beam Suntory (a subsidiary of Suntory Holdings of Osaka, Japan) at the Jim Beam distillery in Clermont, Kentucky. It is one of the four Jim Beam small batch bourbon brands targeted for the high-end liquor market.
Named “Best Rye Whiskey” at the 2018 San Francisco World Spirits Competition, this liquid takes the rich and savory notes of our award-winning Knob Creek® Cask Strength Rye Whiskey to the next level as an extra-aged, uncut and unfiltered* straight rye whiskey.
Jim Beam does not disclose its exact mashbill recipes, but it's believed that the Knob Creek rye whiskey uses only the legal minimum of 51% rye with the remainder being corn and barley.Knob Creek Rye is patiently aged for seven years in deeply charred barrels and bottled at 100 proof to give it the signature Knob Creek full flavor. At seven years, Knob Creek Rye achieves its optimal flavor profile resulting in the perfect balance between sweet barrel notes and spicy rye character.
Created to represent Whiskey before it was mass produced, Knob Creek embodies the look, feel and taste of pre-prohibition bourbon. This is a long-aged, high-rye bourbon from Jim Beam.
Beam doesn't disclose its mashbill, but it's believed Knob Creek Rye is a barely legal rye at just over 51% rye. For supposedly being a little over 51% rye, the nose is surprisingly expressive and more inline with higher percentage rye whiskeys. Fresh cracked rye grain, green apple, and charred oak mingle together.
