Tasting Notes

Bourbon is an American classic that has been loved around the world for decades - and for good reason. This whiskey variety has been produced in the United States since the 18th century, with Elijah Craig being considered the original distiller. It's made primarily from corn, along with other grains and is aged in charred oak barrels, to give it its distinctive flavor. Although Kentucky produces 95% of the world's bourbon, it doesn't need to be made there. For a whiskey to be considered bourbon, the mash must be made of 51% corn and be made in the United States. It tends to have notes of vanilla, caramel, and honey, making it smooth and sweet. It is often served neat, on the rocks, or in a variety of cocktails.

Distillery Information

Bourbon distillation is the process of purifying the bourbon by heating and vaporizing it. The vapor, once condensed, is collected to obtain a purer and more concentrated alcoholic substance. Most distillers put bourbon through distillation twice. In the first step, the bourbon goes through column stills.
