In 1783, he founded Kentucky's first commercial distillery on the banks of the Ohio River. Many years and barrels later, our master distillers are still producing Bourbon the right way, using the same time-honored methods.
Heaven Hill Distilleries, Inc. is an American, private family-owned and operated distillery company headquartered in Bardstown, Kentucky and founded in 1935 that produces and markets the Heaven Hill brand of Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey and a variety of other distilled spirits.
Williams settled in Kentucky and began distilling in 1783, in what is now Louisville, Kentucky. A historical marker in Louisville marks the site as Kentucky's first commercial distillery.
A majority of Evan Williams bourbon is distilled in Louisville and aged at Heaven Hill's home base in Bardstown, Ky., with a small portion at their urban micro-distillery Evan Williams Bourbon Experience at 528 W. Main St.
The mash bill used to make Evan Williams is Heaven Hill Distillery's traditional bourbon mash bill: 78 percent corn, 12 percent malted barley, and 10 percent rye. This grist is used across a large percentage of the distillery's bourbons.It was in 1783 that Evan Williams founded the first commercial spirit distillery "K.S.P. #1" in area that was later admitted into the Union in 1792 as the Commonwealth of Kentucky.
