In 1783, he founded Kentucky's first commercial distillery on the banks of the Ohio River. Many years and barrels later, our master distillers are still producing Bourbon the right way, using the same time-honored methods.
A majority of Evan Williams bourbon is distilled in Louisville and aged at Heaven Hill's home base in Bardstown, Ky., with a small portion at their urban micro-distillery Evan Williams Bourbon Experience at 528 W. Main St.
For a whiskey to be considered Bourbon, its mash – the mixture of grains from which the product is distilled – must contain at least 51% corn. The rest of the mash is usually filled out with rye or wheat, and malted barley.
It is located along downtown Louisville's historic “Whiskey Row” and across the street from the riverfront location where Evan Williams' distillery once stood in the late 18th century.
