Distillery Information

Grand Mayan's handcrafted tequila is produced with the purest, central-highland Blue Agave with the highest standards of production. Based in Guadalajara, the capital of Jalisco, Mexico, Grand Mayan takes painstaking pride in not only the tequila itself, but also in its presentation.Most Tequilas come from the state of Jalisco, where the actual town of Tequila, Mexico resides. For starters, in order for a spirit to be called “Tequila” it MUST come from one of five authorized states in Mexico: Guanajuato, Jalisco, Michoacan, Nayarit, or Tamaulipas.The triple distillation results in a tequila that is much smoother on the palate and has a more refined taste. We obtain a triple distillate in the rectification process by placing the heart back in the still. Then, the rectification process is repeated, getting a third distillate of the product.Tequila is a lively history of this potent and popular drink. Mayans, Olmecs and Aztecs fermented a drink called pulque from the sap of the agave. It was reserved for pregnant women and priests – and their sacrifices.
