Distillery Information

Gott is a fourth-generation vintner who founded his eponymous brand in 1996, building his reputation as a value-oriented vintner with wines made from primarily purchased grapes in California, Oregon and Washington. The company also owns multiple California vineyards. Joel's wife, Sarah, oversees winemaking.It is most prominent in Southwest France in regions like Bordeaux, Bergerac and Cahors where it is often blended with Malbec. The largest recent increase in Merlot plantations has occurred in the south of France, such as Languedoc-Roussillon, where it is often made under the designation of Vin de Pays wine.
It takes several steps to make a Merlot red wine. The first step in the process is harvesting, then comes sorting, crushing, and fermentation. During the fermentation process, the seeds and skins of the grapes float to the top. To ensure the perfect merlot red wine flavor, winemakers will do what's called maceration.In 2009, Joel Gott Wines partnered with Trinchero Family Estates. The relationship enables Joel Gott and his team to focus on sourcing the best fruit to produce high quality wines, while Trinchero helps Joel execute his vision for sales, distribution and marketing.
Napa scion Joel Gott was born to make wine. His grandfather was winemaker and president of Inglenook in the 1960s and 1970s while his father, Cary Gott, is the founder of Montevina and continues to consult for wineries such as D.R. Stephens.
Joel Gott 815 Cabernet Sauvignon contains fruit sourced from varied regions across California to create an elegant and well-balanced wine. This dry red wine showcases aromas of blackberry and black cherry with notes of clove, vanilla and brown sugar.
