The legend of Chronic Cellars dates back to 2004 when our original founders, Josh and Jake Beckett, combined their winemaking skills with their wit and humor to turn an idea into reality using two tons of the best – or 'chronic' – grapes to make killer wine.
Located in the small town of Kröv in the Mosel Valley of Germany's Rhineland-Palatinate state, Staffelter Hof is the world's oldest operating winery. It traces its lineage to the Benedictine abbey of Stavelot monastery established more than 1150 years ago.Carbon dating confirmed the wine was from sometime between 5400-5000 B.C. Although wine dating any earlier than this has yet to be found, it is thought the art of wine making started shortly after 6000 B.C. when humans created the first permanent settlements via the domestication of animals and plants.The cellar was discovered in the ruined palace of a sprawling Canaanite city in northern Israel called Tel Kabri. The site dates to about 1,700 B.C., and isn't far from many of Israel's modern-day wineries.Wine (originally an acronym for "Wine Is Not an Emulator") is a compatibility layer capable of running Windows applications on several POSIX-compliant operating systems, such as Linux, macOS, & BSD.
