Gnarly Head Authentic Red is a red blend wine from Delicato Family Vineyards LLC in Lodi, California. It's a blend of Zinfandel, Merlot, Syrah, and a splash of Malbec. It has 13.5% alcohol.
The winemakers at Gnarly Head traveled to Lodi in 2004 to find the famous old vine Zinfandel vineyards. The vines are grown using the head-trained, spur-pruned method, which has been used for over a century. The gnarled vines produce more ripened red fruit than the winemakers had ever seen.
Gnarly Head also produces a Limited Edition 1924 Whiskey Barrel Aged Red. It has aromas of blackberry, mocha, caramel, and vanilla, and flavors of plum, dark chocolate, toasted marshmallow, and allspice
