In 1973, the estate's winemaking was moved to Alexander Valley and in 2006 Chateau Souverain relocated to the Asti winery, one of the oldest and largest wineries in Sonoma County. E. & J. Gallo Winery later purchased the Asti winery and Chateau Souverain brand in 2015.Known for its soft, sensual texture and approachable style, it's made from red-skinned grapes that can adapt to a variety of climates to produce food-friendly wines in many price points. Merlot can be velvety and plummy, or rich and oaky.
