Ménage à Trois launched in St. Helena, California in 1996 with a convention-shattering blend of three red varietals.
Chardonnay originated in the Burgundy region of France, and takes its name from a small town in the Maconnais, an area in southern Burgundy that makes relatively inexpensive, high-value chardonnays.An irresistible fragrance of crème brulée, honeyed pineapple, and exotic floral notes rises from the glass, hinting at delights to come. On the palate, a wealth of ripe tropical fruit flavors meld with luxurious French vanilla and hints of sweet spice before culminating in a smooth, buttery finish.
The label was created in 1996 by the Folie à Deux winery in St Helena. It was initially a single red blend of three varieties – Zinfandel, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot – which gave the wine its name. A white blend of Chardonnay, Chenin Blanc and Moscato was introduced as well.Ménage à Trois Red brings together three strange bedfellows: Zinfandel, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. To add complexity and retain character, each variety was fermented separately, then blended together prior to bottling.
