Distillery Information

Matsui Shuzou was founded in 1910 and is located in the Tottori Prefecture northwest of Kyoto on the shore of the Sea of Japan. Fresh ground water from the Tottori prefecture wilderness is a blessing from the earth and is used to bring the Kurayoshi Whisky to proof.
The Matsui Sakura Cask is a single malt distilled by Kurayoshi Distillery, located in Tottori Prefecture. The Matsui Single malt is aged in Sakura casks, the famous and iconic Japanese cherry tree.
The largest producers are Suntory and Nikka but it is Karuizawa which is the gold standard or so to speak, prices for it have been souring, a bottle with was worth 1000 USD a year ago is often worth 2000 or more today.
Founded in 1910, Matsui Whisky is located in Tottori Prefecture, northwest of Kyoto, on the shore of the Sea of Japan.
Matsui was a brand name operated by British electronic company Dixons Retail. The brand was known for a variety of budget price consumer electronic products and household appliances between the 1980s and 2010s.A single malt whisky distilled in the rich, natural environment of Tottori and aged in Mizunara (Japanese oak)casks.
Today, Mizunara casks represent only 10% of the stock of aged whiskies in Japan. Its intrinsic qualities and the aromas it transmits are recognized by Japanese whisky lovers for its unique character. This oak takes 200 to 300 years to mature, it brings exceptional aromatic qualities.
The Yamazaki Distillery is Japan's first and oldest malt whisky distillery established in 1923 by Suntory's founder Shinjiro Torii. Inspired by traditional Scottish whisky, Torii envisioned a Japanese approach by choosing a terrain and climate completely different to those of Scotland to create a unique kind of whisky.
