Sherry cask whisky, also known as sherry-matured whisky, is a type of whisky that has been aged in casks that previously held sherry. The casks are typically made of European oak and have been used to age sherry for several years before being used to age whisky.Ranging from a mellow introduction to the style through to what some refer to as a 'sherry bomb', these whiskies are all matured in ex-sherry casks from Spain. Common flavours in this style are rich notes of dried fruit, toffee, hints of chocolate and oak spices.
