Introducing Glendalough 7 Year Old Mizunara Finished Single Malt Irish Whiskey, a meticulously crafted spirit that marries traditional Irish whiskey craftsmanship with the influence of Japanese Mizunara oak casks.

Distilled in the heart of Ireland, Glendalough 7 Year Old begins its journey as a rich, smooth single malt whiskey, carefully aged for seven years to achieve a depth of character and complexity. During this maturation process, it develops distinct flavors of honeyed malt, toasted oak, and subtle fruit notes.

What sets Glendalough 7 Year Old apart is its finishing touch in rare Mizunara oak casks imported from Japan. These casks impart unique flavors and aromas, infusing the whiskey with delicate hints of sandalwood, coconut, and a touch of spice. The result is a harmonious blend of Irish tradition and Japanese craftsmanship, creating a truly exceptional drinking experience.

Whether enjoyed neat, on the rocks, or as the foundation for a sophisticated cocktail, Glendalough 7 Year Old Mizunara Finished Single Malt Irish Whiskey promises to delight the senses and elevate any occasion. Embrace the fusion of two worlds in every sip and savor the incomparable taste of this remarkable whiskey.

Tasting Notes

Appearance: A warm amber hue, reminiscent of golden honey, glistening in the glass.

Nose: The aroma opens with a delicate blend of honeyed malt and subtle floral notes, inviting you in with hints of ripe orchard fruits and a gentle waft of sandalwood. As it breathes, nuances of coconut and vanilla emerge, complemented by a touch of baking spices.

Palate: On the palate, a velvety smooth texture envelops the senses, delivering a symphony of flavors. Sweet caramel and toffee notes dance alongside rich oak, while layers of dried fruits, such as apricot and fig, add depth and complexity. The Mizunara influence reveals itself with a subtle hint of exotic spices, including cinnamon and clove, balanced by a touch of creamy coconut.

Finish: The finish is long and lingering, leaving a satisfying warmth that slowly fades, with echoes of toasted oak and a lingering sweetness that invites another sip.

Distillery Information

The Glendalough Distillery, a true Irish Craft Distillery, was set up by five friends from Wicklow and Dublin with a passion for reviving the heritage of small size distilling in Ireland. Ireland once had over 200 licensed distilleries in the 18th and 19th centuries. The Glendalough Distillery is located just south of Dublin in the Wicklow Mountains on the road to Glendalough. Billed as being “Ireland's First Craft Distillery”, The Glendalough Distillery was established in 2011 by five friends from Wicklow and Dublin.
In 2011, Kevin Keenan, Gary McLoughlin, Barry Gallagher, Brian Fagan, and Donal O'Gallachoir founded the Glendalough Irish Whiskey Company, whose managing director was Barry Gallagher. Since there is initially nothing to sell after a start-up, whiskey was obtained from the Irish Cooley Distillery.
Outlawed in 1661 but now it's back, ours is triple distilled in a traditional copper pot-still using malted barley and pure spring water and bottled at 55% for a strong, authentic taste of Ireland's original spirit.
Glendalough Double Barrel Irish Whiskey is a single grain Irish whiskey, initially matured in American bourbon barrels before enjoying a finishing period of six months in Spanish Oloroso Sherry casks. This comes bottled at 42% ABV, brought down to this strength by Wicklow mountain water.
At Glendalough Distillery we progressively-craft luxury spirits in the Wicklow Mountains, in Ireland. We hope these spirits evoke a sense of place through their depth of flavour as they are an expression of what we love about these mountains.
