Distillery Information

The Botanist is a dry gin made by the Bruichladdich Distillery in Islay, Scotland. It is one of two gins made on the island and is known for its hand-foraged botanicals. Each year, between March and October, the botanicals used in the gin are collected from all over Islay by professional foragers.
Founded in 1881 by the Harvey brothers, The Botanist is made by Bruichladdich Distillery, the first whisky and gin distillery in Europe to meet the strict criteria of social and environmental governance to achieve B Corp status.
The viscosity of the liquid is exceptional. Immediately a bouquet of herbal freshness, juniper and sweet citrus come to the fore. Allow a little time to open and the sweet, spicy and earthy notes of cassia and coriander set a base for the delicate complexity of the Islay 22.
All distilled / London dry gin is made by a distillery even if sometimes it's not the "distillery" whose name is on the bottle.
With a distillation process taking 17 hours, some of the botanicals are macerated overnight on the still, with the more delicate botanicals placed in a botanical basket that hung inside the head of the still.
