Distillery Information

No. 209 Barrel Reserve Gins are aged in carefully selected oak barrels made in France's most esteemed cooperages, including Sequin Moreau, Taransaud and Darnajou, amoung others. The resulting gin gains character from not only the oak but from the grape varietal that formerly called the barrel home.
Once the initial 'heads' have been discarded the distiller will start collecting the 'heart', the spirit which will end up being bottled as gin. The oils from some botanicals will vaporise before that of others so the flavour of the distillate will change with citrus tending to come off first.
Distilled Dry Gin L.N. Mattei is the result of the distillation of a selection of plants and citrus fruits inspired by the aromatic richness of the Corsican maquis.
