Distillery Information

Maison Ferrand also co-owns Logis d Angeac, a 100-hectare (247-acre) vineyard in the heart of Grande Champagne, which features a distillery that dates back to 1776.In addition to its head office in Ars,Maison Ferrand also has an office in Viroflay, in the Paris region.
Grande Champagne is a French district, called a cru, known for its cognac. It produces the finest cognacs in a zone of 34703 hectares, of which 17% is dedicated to production of cognac, which can be marked as Grande Champagne or Grande Fine Champagne.
The company was founded by Alexandre Gabriel in 1989 with a mission to preserve age-old, craft production methods that capture the true expression of the spirit, and a commitment to revisit the classics while advancing innovation.

Fine Champagne cognacs are only made with wine from Grande Champagne and Petite Champagne cru. In 1848, Paul Emile Rémy Martin created the first Fine Champagne cognac by blending cognac from the two regions. At Maison Painturaud Frères, we are situated exclusively in Grande Champagne to produce superior eau-de-vie.Ferrand 1840 Original Formula is a revival of the Ferrand Classic 3 Star Cognac and is made up of eaux-de-vie produced from vines located at Angeac, Grande Champagne, the best planting region of the Cognac area.
Crafted in consultation with cocktail historian David Wondrich and based on a 19th century recipe, it is a traditional French “triple sec” – thee separate distillations of spices and the “sec” or bitter, peels of Curacao oranges blended with brandy and Ferrand Cognac.
