Sazerac Company, Inc is a privately held American alcoholic beverage company headquartered in Metairie in the metropolitan area of New Orleans, Louisiana, but with its principal office in Louisville, Kentucky. The company is owned by billionaire William Goldring and his family.
Brown–Forman purchased the brand in 1979. In 2011, the brand began releasing flavored variations like cherry, lime, gingerbread, and Tabasco. In January 2016 Brown–Forman sold it to Sazerac Company, along with Tuaca, as part of a $543.5 million deal. Since March 1, 2016, the brand has been owned by Sazerac.
One of the world's most famous liqueurs, Southern Comfort is made with American grain spirit and peaches and tastes great with traditional lemonade, or with vodka, orange & grenadine: the 'Alabama Slammer'.
SoCo 100 is an easy-drinking whiskey with an extra kick and whiskey swagger without the overpowering harshness of other whiskeys. Made with traditional American craftsmanship since 1874, Southern Comfort is made following M. W. Heron's recipe.
The strength of liquor is measured in proof, which is twice the percentage of alcohol by volume. For example, 80-proof vodka contains 40% alcohol. 100-proof whiskey contains 50% alcohol. 150-proof rum contains 75% alcohol.Fans of Southern Comfort should probably reach for the higher proof versions, especially when drinking over ice. The 100 proof seems to be made for a big glass of ice and a citrus twist. But, the new 80 proof addition plays up the whiskey flavor a bit more than the others, and that makes it my favorite of the bunch.
