Upon the first sip, the palate is treated to a luxurious experience. The taste unfolds with layers of flavors, including the luscious sweetness of ripe fruits, the warmth of spices like cinnamon and nutmeg, and a gentle undercurrent of dark chocolate. Thomas Hine & Co. is the distillery that produces Hine Antique XO Premier Cru Cognac. The distillery has been located on the banks of the La Charente River in Jarnac, France since 1763.
The Hine company was founded in 1763 by Thomas Hine, an Englishman from Dorset. In 1817, Thomas Hine named the company after himself. Since then, six generations of the Hine family have led the company.
Hine Antique XO Premier Cru Cognac is made from grapes from the Grande Champagne region, which is considered the top region for cognac. The cognac is a blend of over 40 different cognacs, aged for at least 10 years. The average age of the cognac is 20 years, with a minimum age of 10 years.
The Hine cognac house uses mostly Tronçais oak, which is slower growing and has a tighter grain. This results in fewer tannins in the final product.
