Founded in 1846 by John Dewar, John Dewar & Sons Ltd has grown from a small wine and spirits merchant shop in Perth, Scotland, to become a global brand.
Dewar's blended scotch whiskies are made using up to 40 different malt and grain whiskies from across Scotland. John Dewar opened his shop at 111 Perth High Street in 1846 with a clear vision to create a house style that was a fruity and smooth as possible.
The company has five distilleries: Aberfeldy, Aultmore, Craigellachie, MacDuff and Royal Brackla.
First planned in 1896 by the sons of John Dewar, Dewar's Aberfeldy Distillery is the only Scotch whisky distillery built by the Dewar family. Dewar's was already a highly successful brand of blended whisky, renowned for its quality, and the company needed more single malt whisky to use in its blend.
Dewar's 12 Year Old is a double-aged Blended Scotch Whisky to be experienced. This scotch liquor delivers a smooth rich taste with notes of dried fruit, citrus and vanilla.
The formula for Dewar's 12 year old has always started with a blend of 40 aged single malt and grain whiskies aged in a combination of refill casks, first-fill bourbon casks, and sherry casks, and that continues to be the case.Dewar's blended scotch whiskies are made using up to 40 different malt and grain whiskies from across Scotland.
