Conecuh Ridge Whiskey is a type of whiskey produced and officially marketed as "Clyde May's Alabama Style Whiskey" by Conecuh Ridge Distillery Inc. It is marketed as a high-quality aged moonshine whiskey which was produced illegally in Alabama during the mid to late 20th century.
This is as straight as a Straight Bourbon gets with a mash bill of 78% corn, 12% rye, and 10% malted barley. It's matured in new American oak for between four and five years and bottled at 46% ABV.
Aged 4 to 5 years in new 53 gallon oak barrels and is non-chill filtered. You get dried orchard fruits on the nose and spice on the palate. A full and smooth choice, best either on the rocks or in a May's Manhattan.
Clyde May proudly served in the Army's 77th Infantry Division during World War II. He earned a Bronze Star and a Purple Heart while commanding a 12-man rifle squad. Clyde's misfortune of being wounded in battle turned into a pretty good thing for whiskey-loving Conecuh Ridge locals.
