Ardbeg has a rich history dating back to its founding in 1815 by John McDougall. The distillery has weathered periods of closure and financial challenges over the years. However, in the late 20th century, a resurgence in interest for peaty and smoky Islay whiskies brought Ardbeg back into the limelight.
In 1997, Glenmorangie PLC acquired Ardbeg, and under their ownership, the distillery underwent renovations and expansions while maintaining its commitment to traditional production methods.
Whisky Style:
Ardbeg is renowned for producing heavily peated whiskies, known for their intense smokiness and complex flavors. The use of malted barley, traditional copper pot stills, and aging in oak barrels contribute to the distinctive character of Ardbeg whiskies.
Ardbeg 10 Year Single Malt Scotch Whisky:
Ardbeg 10 Year is one of the flagship expressions from the distillery. Aged for a decade, this single malt is celebrated for its peaty profile, marrying bold smoke with nuances of citrus, vanilla, and a hint of maritime influence. It has become a favorite among whisky enthusiasts worldwide and serves as an introduction to the unique Islay style.
