Distillery Information

Bladnoch distillery is a single malt Scotch whisky distillery in south west Scotland. It is one of six remaining Lowland distilleries, located at Bladnoch, near Wigtown, Dumfries and Galloway. The distillery is situated on the banks of the River Bladnoch, and is the most southerly whisky distillery in Scotland.
An extremely limited release of 200 bottles to celebrate the 200 year anniversary of Bladnoch Distillery. Made from two exceptional casks of Whisky distilled in 1988, the Bladnoch Bicentennial Release was first matured in Oloroso Sherry casks and finished for a final 18 months in Moscatel casks.
It uses natural, raw ingredients: malted barley, fresh spring water, and yeast. The production of single malt Scotch whisky begins with malting the barley by steeping it in water and spreading it across a malting floor, allowing it to germinate.
It is unusual for a Lowland Whisky that it is double distilled and that sometimes peated malt is used in the production. All in all the Whiskies from Bladnoch are very interesting as they have a lot of variety.
2015. Australian entrepreneur, David Prior acquired the company from Raymond and Colin Armstrong, and began an extensive refurbishment of the distillery.
Scotch whisky is divided into five distinct categories: single malt Scotch whisky, single grain Scotch whisky, blended malt Scotch whisky (formerly called "vatted malt" or "pure malt"), blended grain Scotch whisky, and blended Scotch whisky.
